We Already Knew It, But Friday Proved It - RH Has Talent!
Wow, what a Talent Show starring our amazingly talented RH kiddos (and teachers and staff)! 
  • A HUGE thank you to Talent Show Chair Karina Gonzales as well as to her cast of volunteer assistants for making this another memorable evening for all! 
  • Congratulations to all of our Hollywood Stars from our acts to emcees to stage crew.
  • Also, a shout-out to Monnig Middle School, former RH alumni who are current MMS students who helped behind the scenes, and Principal Kellye Kirkpatrick for allowing us to use the MMS auditorium and equipment.

2019-20 RHPTA Officers
2019-20 RHPTA officer elections were held last week at the General PTA Meeting. The Ridglea Hills Elementary PTA officers for the 2019-20 school year are:

Teacher Appreciation Week is This Week!
Teacher Appreciation Week is this week – tomorrow, Monday, April 29, through this Friday, May 3. Encourage your students to show their appreciation for our amazing teachers and staff all week. Don’t forget to show your appreciation for your Secret Buddies this week, too!
Below is what is planned by the PTA:
  • Monday – “Mocha Monday” coffee bar and sodas for teachers in the morning. Teachers may wear jeans.
  • Tuesday – “Tell a Teacher Tuesday” when students are encouraged to fill out the card(s) sent home in folders last week or send notes from home thanking their teachers.
  • Wednesday – “Hump Day Lunch Day” lunch will be provided to teachers and staff.
  • Thursday – “Thirsty Thursday” afternoon Sonic drink delivery to teachers and staff. Teachers may wear ball caps/hats.
  • Friday – “Flip Flop and Flower Friday” when students bring a flower to their teacher. Vases will be provided by the PTA. Teachers may wear flip flops.

Reminder: Field Day is This Friday, May 3
As a reminder, Field Day was rescheduled for this Friday, May 3. We have an amazing day lined up!
  • Below is the schedule for the day:
  • 8:15 a.m.-8:30 a.m. – Field Day Parade
  • 8:30 a.m.-10:55 a.m. – PPCD & Pre-K through 2nd Grade Event Rotations
  • 12:30 p.m. – PPCD & Pre-K through 2nd Grade Tug of War
  • 10:20 a.m.-off/on until 1:30 p.m. – LINC & 3rd Grade through 5th Grade Event Rotations and Track Races
  • 1:30 p.m.-2:25 p.m. – LINC & 3rd Grade through 5th Grade Tug of War
  • 2:25 p.m. – 3rd Grade through 5th Grade Fastest Boy and Girl in the School Race
  • *Lunch will follow the normal schedule.
  • Students may wear their Field Day T-shirt or other school spirit shirt and appropriate length athletic shorts. They should also wear tennis shoes and sunscreen. 
  • Please note the colors of the Field Day T-shirts by grade are as follows:
  • PPCD/LINC: Silver
  • Pre-K: Heather navy
  • Kinder: Yellow
  • 1st: Kelly green
  • 2nd: Sapphire
  • 3rd: Light blue
  • 4th: Flash green
  • 5th: Maroon
  • Field Day T-shirts will be distributed by the teachers to their students by this Wednesday, May 1. Older students will receive T-shirts for their younger siblings. 
  • Parents and siblings are welcome to attend but must sign in at the front office. No pets allowed.

Reminder: Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership Award Nominations Due Today, Sunday, April 28
Do you know an outstanding volunteer, teacher or community member who should be recognized for his/her service to Ridglea Hills Elementary? Nominate him/her for the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership Award! This honorary award is presented to individuals who have given outstanding service to and for the students of our school. 
  • If you have someone to nominate, please email Jenn Nevitt with your name, the nominee’s name and why they should be nominated for this special award. If you’d prefer to submit this information in hard copy form, please leave it in the Membership folder of the PTA filing cabinet in the office.

Enter Your RHPTA Volunteer Hours
Please enter your RHPTA volunteer hours for the appropriate month online. Click the following link to access: 
  • Volunteer hours include: PTA meetings, work at the school, PTA-related work from home, fundraising, special school programs (Field Day, Fine Arts Day, etc.), cafeteria duty, copying, errands for PTA, etc.
  • You can submit this form as many times as you wish throughout the month. We will add them up for you! 
  • We will close out the hours for each month a few days into the next month. 
  • Hours are allowed to be carried over and reported from any time in the year to any reporting period as long as they are reported only once.

Mustang Stampede is Ready!
Mustang Stampede is ready to thrill your kids with a surprise appearance on their birthday or any special occasion! Your kids will wake up on the day you select to find their front yard "stampeded" with mustang signs displayed by 5th grade families.

Please note the following:
  • If you are coming to Awards Day or Promotion and not going to the classroom, you will sign in and then you may go directly into the Auditorium.
  • If you plan on going to your student’s classroom, having lunch with your student, or getting an early dismissal, you must follow these procedures:
  1. Stop at the table in the lobby—worker will check your ID against the student’s emergency card. Your name must be on the emergency card to go to the classroom, have lunch or attend class parties.
  2. Receive a sticker, and then you may proceed to the classroom or the lunchroom.
  3. If you are signing out a student, your name must be on the emergency card. Sign the child out at the table in the lobby.
