KidsFit Competition & Fundraiser Sponsored by Fuzzy’s Benefiting RH PTA Starts Tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 11!

·      The culinary students at South Hills High School working with Medical City Children's Hospital have created “KidsFit” menu items that Fuzzy's has placed on their menu.

·      The students have entered a contest with other culinary programs across the country to see whose menu items sell best over the next four months.

·      In order to help market their menu items, Fuzzy's has agreed to create a competition with the PTAs closest to the Fuzzy's on Bryant Irvin (RHE, JT Stevens and Benbrook) starting tomorrow, Dec. 11, through March 18, 2018.

·      Every time someone orders from the KidsFit Menu and mentions the name of their school, $1 will be donated to that school. This includes dine in and take out.

·      The customer will be given a card to put in one of three clear boxes with the school’s logo. This will identify which school they are representing.    

·      The PTA purchasing the most KidsFit menu items during the four-month period will have a complimentary teacher appreciation lunch catered by Fuzzy's. 

·      Everyone wins!

o   Every meal purchased with the designated PTA will result in the PTA receiving $1.

o   The winning school's teachers will receive a free lunch.

o   The students at SHHS will increase their chances to win this national competition.

o   And most importantly, our kids will learn how to make healthier choices.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Book Distribution This Thursday, Dec. 14, and Friday, Dec. 15

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is a program that provides each child with a book to take home as their very own. Children have a selection of books on their reading level to choose from. Our RIF book distribution will be this Thursday, Dec. 14, and Friday, Dec. 15.

·      We need volunteers to help make this happen. Please click on the Volunteer link under the PTA Volunteers tab on the RHPTA home page to volunteer to help during this event.

·      Each volunteer event is listed by class so you can choose your child's class time. 

·      Feel free to volunteer with another class as well.

Battle of the Books This Friday, Dec. 15

This Friday, Dec. 15, is our school-wide Battle of the Books competition in the gym.

·      3rd grade teams will compete at 8:30 a.m.

·      4th grade teams will compete at 9:30 a.m.

·      5th grade teams will compete at 10:30 a.m.

·      Teams can dress up in theme together – get creative!

·      Parents are permitted to attend and will have the option to stand at the back of the gym.

Pajama Reading Day On Thursday, Dec. 21

On Thursday, Dec. 21, RHE will be having Pajama Reading Day! We will be reading all day.

·      All students are invited to wear pajamas to school on that day. Pajamas should be suitable for wearing in public.

·      Students may bring slippers to wear but should wear shoes to school.

·      We are looking forward to a fun and exciting day.

·      If you are interested in volunteering to be a “celebrity reader,” please call the office at 817-815-1700 by Tuesday, Dec. 19, to sign up for the time that best fits your schedule.

·      Pajamas are optional for readers.

Chess Club Updates: No Chess Club Wednesday, Dec. 20; Save the Date for RHE Chess Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 13

·      Chess Club will meet this Wednesday, Dec. 13; however, we will not have Chess Club on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

·      RHE is hosting our 4th Annual Chess Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m.

o   Participants will receive medals, and individual and team trophies will be awarded in each of three sections.

o   Entry fee is $15, if received by 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12; entry fee is $30, if received on-site between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.

o   Make check payable to RHPTA.

Reminder: History Fair Scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018
It’s time to start preparing for the RHE History Fair to be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018. 

·      Students will choose a topic that interests them and share what they learn with the RHE community by preparing a background exhibit, process paper and bibliography.

·      Students may participate individually or submit a group project.

·      The first place winners will advance to the District History Fair.

·      New This Year: We will be offering three workshops to help students develop a topic, conduct research and create an exhibit display. All meetings will be held in the RHE library.
