PTA Membership Drive Starting Tomorrow and Running Through End-of-January 
Campus Closed for Benchmark Testing This Wednesday, Jan. 16, through Friday, Jan. 18
  • 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking benchmark assessments from this Wednesday, Jan. 16, through this Friday, Jan. 18. 
  • In order to maintain the best testing environment, we will be closing campus to all visitors on those days, including lunch.
  • Thank you in advance for your understanding and support of these students!
 
Lost and Found Cleanout This Wednesday, Jan. 16
Missing a jacket, hoodie, shoe, lunch box or book? Wednesday, Jan. 16, is the deadline for removing items from the Lost and Found. 
  • Be sure to come by the Lost and Found and look for any items that your child has misplaced.
  • After Jan. 16, ALL items will be removed and donated to charity. 
 
Calling All Run Club Mustangs: It’s Time to Register for the Cowtown Kids 5K on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 9:30 a.m.

Adults are welcome to run with, and the cost is $20 for 5K and $22 for 10K. If a non-RHE minor sibling wants to join, the cost is $15. Just click on the link below.   • Coaches Brooke Mooty and Jami Lampert are running the Kids/Adults 5K – Saturday, Feb. 23, at 9:30 a.m. If students want to run the 10K, they can, but they will need an adult to accompany them. THE 10K STARTS AT 7:00 a.m.! If less than five people sign up, we will not have a 10K team, and you will be considered individuals.
  • This rate is only good until Jan. 19. After Jan. 19, you will have to pay $15 for students.

Reminder: RH Chess Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 19
As a reminder, RH is hosting our 5th Annual Chess Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Participants will receive medals, and individual and team trophies will be awarded in each of six sections. 
  • Entry fee is $15, if received by 6 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 18; entry fee is $30, if received on-site between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19. Make check payable to RHPTA.
  • If your child is interested, register online at 2019ridgleahillschess.eventbrite.com or mail entries to Laura Hixon c/o Ridglea Hills Elementary School at 6817 Cumberland Road, Fort Worth, TX 76116. Do not mail registration form and check after this Tuesday, Jan. 15.

No School on Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday, Jan. 21
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no school on Monday, Jan. 21. 
  
Battle of the Books on Thursday, Jan. 24
This year’s Battle of the Books for participating students in grades 3rd through 5th is the morning of Thursday, Jan. 24, in the gym. Parents are welcome to attend. 
 
Below are the scheduled times:
  • 8:30 a.m. – 3rd grade students
  • 9:30 a.m. – 4th grade students 
  • 10:30 a.m. – 5th grade students 
 
Reminder: Mustang Round-Up at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25
Mustang Round-Up is coming up at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, and we are excited to round up a whole new group of Mustangs for the 2019-2020 year! 
  • 10 a.m. - Welcome and Introduction with Principal Crenesha Cotton and PTA President Rachel Harris
  • 10:30 a.m. - Campus Tour
  • 11:15 a.m. - RH Teacher Q&A
  • This event is for ALL incoming students, Pre-K through 5th grade, to be welcomed to our campus!
  • Please share with your friends and neighbors who may be interested in bringing a child into our school for the first time.
  • If new parents plan to register their children the morning of Round-Up, they should bring the following: birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record and proof of residence.

Reminder: History Fair Scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31
As a reminder, the RH History Fair will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31. 
Here are some details to keep in mind: 
  • Students will choose a topic that interests them and share what they learn with the RH community by preparing a display board, process paper and bibliography.
  • Students may participate individually or submit a group project. 
  • Teachers at each grade level are offering extra credit for participation.
  • The first-place winners from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will advance to the District History Fair.

Hot Dog Supper is Friday, Feb. 8!
For those of you who haven’t been before, RH’s Hot Dog Supper (HDS) is an annual spring FUNdraiser for the whole family hosted by the RHPTA. We raise money in two ways – raffle basket tickets and kid parties. 
 
Raffle Baskets
  • Room Parents are currently collecting donations for classes’ assigned basket themes. 
  • Please donate an item related to your basket theme or a monetary donation to be used toward the basket items. 
  • Baskets must be completed and turned in no later than Wednesday, Feb. 6. 
  • Below are the basket themes for each class.

Kid Parties
  • Kid parties are for any grade, can be grade specific, girl only, boy only, or co-ed. Kid parties do not need to be expensive – simple is better! Get creative! 
  • Examples: Popsicles in the Park, Pizza & Soccer, Pool Party, Bingo & Brunch. So, gather several other parents, and plan a fun kid party to host together! 
  • We are in need of kid party hosts. Party hosts incur the cost of the party, and kids pay to attend. 
  • **Kid Parties are only available for purchase at Hot Dog Supper. Parties with leftover spots will be available for purchase the week after HDS.

Mustang Stampede is Ready!
Mustang Stampede is ready to thrill your kids with a surprise appearance on their birthday or any special occasion! Your kids will wake up on the day you select to find their front yard "stampeded" with mustang signs displayed by 5th grade families.
