No School for Students Tomorrow, Monday, March 25, in Honor of FWISD’s Cesar Chavez-Dolores Huerta Day
Tomorrow, Monday, March 25, is FWISD’s Cesar Chavez-Dolores Huerta Day. There will not be school for students this day.

Closed Campus This Week –  March 26-28
This week we will be having benchmark testing for the following grades and content areas:
  • 3rd/4th Grade Reading – Tuesday, March 26
  • 3rd/4th Grade Math – Wednesday, March 27
  • 5th Grade Science – Thursday, March 28
  • This is a practice opportunity for upcoming STAAR assessments so our campus will be CLOSED to parents, visitors and volunteers on those days. 
  • Thank you for your understanding and support in providing the best possible testing environment for our students.

Registration Extended for Free Field Hockey Clinic for RH Girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade This Friday, March 29
  • There will be a free field hockey clinic for RH girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Friday, March 29, at the RH athletic fields by the track.
  • Sign up has been extended! Complete the form posted on the RHPTA website under Student Activities/Field Hockey Clinic and return it to Principal Cotton by this Thursday, March 28. Click the following link to access:
  • Girls should come dressed to play in athletic wear, tennis shoes or cleats and shin guards (if available) with a water bottle.
  • Girls will learn basic field hockey skills, play games and have fun!
New Carpool Morning Drop-Off Procedure Will Continue!  
The new carpool drop-off procedure that was tested last week was a success and will continue!

As a reminder, below are the expectations for morning carpool drop-off:
  • The new, 2nd morning drop-off location in the staff parking lot will open for drop-off at 7:30 a.m. Students who are dropped off before 7:30 a.m. will need to follow the normal routine of being dropped off at the front of the school.
  • After 7:30 a.m., parents will have two options for drop-off. A staff member will be located at the corner of Angus and Cumberland to direct the flow of traffic.
  • Cumberland Road – This is the regular morning drop-off location.
  • Staff parking lot off Angus – At this new morning drop-off location, students will be dropped off and directed through the playground gate to enter through the library. This is for students only. Parents who walk their children to class will still be required to enter through the front door.
  • If you are directed to drop-off in the parking lot, you will not be able to turn back to Cumberland off of Angus after you have dropped your child off. Please continue down Angus. This will help with congestion at the corner of Stonedale and Cumberland.
  • Please DO NOT park on Angus during carpool. We need to keep Angus free of parked cars to help with the two-way traffic flow.
  • Also, please DO NOT park in the staff parking lot off Angus.
  • The back parking lot drop-off ends at 7:50 a.m., as staff members must report to classroom duties. After 7:50 a.m., please follow normal procedures to drop-off at the front of the school. As a reminder, students are tardy if they report to class after 7:50 a.m.
Nominations for 2019-20 PTA Board Now Open!
Interested in serving on the PTA Board next school year? 
  • All of the many events at Ridglea Hills could not happen without parental involvement. The RHTPA board consists of 42 positions held by PTA general members.
  • There are eight elected positions, elected by the general PTA membership, and 34 appointed positions. The appointed positions are appointed by the incoming president.
  • These positions together make up the RHPTA board. While each position has a specific job, the board as a whole makes administrative and financial decisions of the PTA.
  • In addition to the specific jobs outlined, each board member should be able to regularly attend board meetings.

Buy Your Tickets Online NOW for “One Totally Awesome Auction for One Totally Awesome School!,” RH’s Parent Party and Auction on Saturday, March 30! 
Buy your tickets online for the RH Parent Party and Auction from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the after-party from 10 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, March 30, at Ridglea Theater and Ridglea Room NOW (no later than tomorrow, Monday, March 25) and save! It’s “One Totally Awesome Auction for One Totally Awesome School!” 
  • The theme will be 80s so get your costumes ready! Dress up to this adults-only event is highly encouraged.
  • Party and auction at Ridglea Theater include dinner catered by Pulido’s, music, dancing, cash bar, silent and live auction. 
  • After-party is right next door at Ridglea Room and includes dj/karaoke, dancing, cash bar and snacks. (Wristband will be required for after-party; you’ll pick it up at auction check-in.)
  • Tickets for the party are $25 each and $10 each for the after-party if you buy them in advance no later than tomorrow, Monday, March 25. 
  • After March 25, tickets for the party will only be available for sale at the door for $30 each and $15 each for the after-party.

  • This year all grades will be a different color T-shirt.

Online Pre-K Registration Opens Monday, April 1
  • Parents can register for Pre-K online starting Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 26.
  • Ridglea Hills’ computer lab will be open and available Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, for interested parents to register online for Pre-K.
  • Registrations will be processed through the Early Childhood Department by Friday, May 10, with letters going home notifying parents on Monday, May 13

  • The district will host their big Pre-K Round Up on Saturday, April 6, at the William M. McDonald YMCA near Mitchell Boulevard. 
  • Currently, Pre-K is planned to start at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:15 p.m., and after-school care by the YMCA will again be available on campus until 6 p.m. for those parents who need it.
