PTA Membership Challenge Starts Tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 15

·      We are having our October PTA membership challenge starting tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 15, running for the next two weeks.

Reminder: Holiday Assistance Fair Tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 15, in Cafeteria

Our Student Aid Committee helps organize events for our school community to give back to families who need a helping hand. The identity of the students and families participating will be kept confidential by using a code number through the counselor’s office; names will not be used. 

 

Our Assistance Fair will run from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 15, in the cafeteria, and will include our Angel Tree Sign-Up and our School Uniform Store. 

 

Angel Tree Sign-Up

Gifts will be purchased by individual volunteers and/or donations received to purchase gifts. There is no guarantee that a child will receive a specific item.

 

School Uniform Store

Select from available new and gently used school-approved uniforms and accessories. Boys’ and girls’ styles will be available.

 

·     Families needing assistance can pickup uniforms, and apply for the Angel Tree and free/reduced lunch at our Assistance Fair. 

·     What do families needing assistance need to bring? (Criteria based on Salvation Army guidelines.)

o   Identification

o   Income statement

o   Utility bill with address confirmation

o   Birth certificate for each child under the age of 14

o   Medicaid/TANF card

Run Club Starts This Thursday, Oct. 18

This Thursday, Oct. 18, is our FIRST day of Run Club this school year! If your child hasn’t participated in Run Club before, please have a parent at this first meeting to get information. 

·     Run Club will meet every Thursday after school until 4:00 p.m. on the RH track.

·     Students must get to the track on their own.

·     Please make sure your child’s teacher is notified that they will be attending Run Club.

·     Please pick up your child promptly at 4:00 p.m. on the track. 

·     Your child is responsible for staying with the Run Club group and following our instructions. 

·     We will be running at least a mile every practice. If your child does not want to run, Run Club is not for them. If they ask to sit out more than two weeks in a row without a medical excuse, we will have to ask that they not participate in Run Club. 

·     Practice and weather updates will be done by our Facebook Group and Remind Text.  

·     Run Club Facebook Page is a closed group page that requires you to ask to join. Just search for RHE Run Club and ask to join.

·     You can join Remind Text by texting to number 81010 and then texting the message @rheru.

·     If you signed up last year, you should still be receiving our texts. No further action is needed.

Things My Child Needs to Have for Every Run Club Practice:

1.    Refillable Water Bottle (filled in the school before they come down to practice). We do not have access to water on the track to refill all of the children’s water            bottles.

2.    Running Shoes 

3.    Change of Clothes (Optional – children who need to change should do so before they come down to the track.)

 

Please note – we will be asking parents and students to sign a behavior agreement this year for Run Club. We will have a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior this year. Please look for this to come home with your child.

Reminder: AHHS Literacy Rally from 9 a.m. to Noon This Saturday, Oct. 20

The AHHS Literacy Rally will be from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Oct. 20, in front of AHHS. 

·     Free admission!

·     Free family event for all students and families in the AHHS community and all of Fort Worth!

·     Fun activities, performances and books for everyone!

 

Book Fair Scheduled for Oct. 29 – Nov. 2; Volunteers Needed

·     Our Book Fair will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2, in the library. 

·     Our librarian, Ms. Rick, needs volunteers to set up, and assist students with book selection and checkout during Book Fair.

Pumpkin Patch Next Week – Oct. 22-26
RH students are invited to decorate pumpkins for RH’s annual Pumpkin Patch and bring them to school for display next week – Monday, Oct. 22, through Friday, Oct. 26. This can be a fun family project and a great opportunity to spend time together! 

·     Students are encouraged to let their creativity flow with paint, stickers, glitter, markers or any other decorations to make their pumpkins awesome!

·     Remember, this event is meant for student work not parent or professional work.

·     No carved pumpkins will be accepted.

·     Please only bring pumpkins that the students are able to carry by themselves.

·     Students will be able to vote for their favorite pumpkin, and each grade level will have prizes!

·     Pumpkins will remain on display through Friday, Oct. 26.

RH Carnival Coming Up on Friday, Oct. 26!

Please mark your calendars for the RH Carnival from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.

·     Many volunteers are needed for this fun annual event, including for ticket sales in advance of the event (before school, during lunch times and after school), Cake Walk donations for the event as well as support during the event.

Save the Date for Leap Frogs Reading Festival from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at TCU

·     RH has been invited to participate in the Leap Frogs Reading Festival from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the TCU Rec Center. 

·     This is in support of the FWISD initiative FWTX 100x25 – with the goal of 100% of FW 3rd graders reading on grade level by 2025.

·     There will be many stations, including face paint, games and a surprise visit from SuperFrog!

·     This goal of this event is to promote a love of reading. 

·     Students will have the opportunity to take home a new book to add to their personal library.
